Toy company honors inspiring shelter pets with plush pooches

When I saw Rescue Heroes plushies on Pibborafi’s Instagram account, I had to do a double take. Does that pooch only have three legs? Is that other canine’s face a bit twisted? After looking at the post, I realized these toys were actually modeled after real shelter dogs, with all the qualities that make each pooch so unique and amazing. I loved that Pibborafi was featuring these inspiring pets, and the plushies looked so much like the actual canine.

I had to find out more about these rescue dogs, so I looked at Pibborafi’s website. It was sad and uplifting to read each dog’s tale. Every canine had a story to tell.

Poor Brodie suffered a cranial and facial injury after he was bitten on the head by his mother. He was just 13 days old. Luckily, the injury was not life-threatening and he didn’t need surgery. Brodie was then cleared for adoption! As Brodie aged, the bones in his face twisted and fused, but he was still so sweet and filled with love. Brodie found a great new family in Red Deer, Alberta and is healthy, happy and living his best life!

Beaubee was found as a stray on the streets of NYC. Even with his exaggerated and goofy features, this sweet dog found his furever home. His new family had just lost their first pitbull, so they decided it was the right time to adopt another one. Oh, and did I mention Beaubee loves to snuggle?

Petey had a rough life: in Chandler, Oklahoma, he was hit by a car and left to die on the side of the road. The poor guy suffered multiple traumatic injuries and the vets had to amputate his left rear leg since it suffered the most injury. But Petey’s spirit was strong and he was adopted, continuing to spread love to everyone he meets. He even became a Canine Good Citizen and a registered therapy dog with Alliance of Therapy Dogs!

I have to say that I really love these toys! Pibborafi doesn’t just make a great product, they also give back to the community. The toy company sends Rescue Heroes plushies to shelters for free so they can sell or auction the toys. The shelters use 100% of the profits to help abandoned and abused canines. Pibborafi even donates part of their proceeds from select plushes to rescues - how awesome is that!

I should also note that the rescue dogs used for the plushies are chosen from Pibborafi's annual Rescue Hero Contest. Shelter dog owners can submit their pooch’s photo and story for a chance to be selected for the company's next round of plushies. Check out Pibborafi’s website and Instagram account for updates on the contest. Your rescue dog could actually become a toy!

Thank you Pibborafi for the great Rescue Heroes plushies you make, and for raising awareness of shelter dogs everywhere. Everyone needs to get one and learn more about these great rescue canines.
